Retail Industry

If you thought that a job in the retail industry could only consist of sitting at a till all day, you could be pleasantly surprised. Staff are employed at managerial positions, act as buyers for large companies, or branch out into marketing or PR. There is also the opportunity to become involved in the advancing technology in retail, as tele-shopping and online buying become increasingly popular.

There are huge businesses in the retail industry, with multi-million pound turnovers. With determination and hard work you could end up as general manager of one of these outlets. One of the board directors of Tesco started out working as a retail assistant on a Saturday.
